Peace - Do Not Let Your Hearts Be Troubled
John 14:27
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid.
The Biblical view of "peace" is not merely the absence of war or violence. It is well-being -- deep well-being.
Peace is reconciliation and healing. It is the ability to discover and experience joy in the midst of pain, quiet in the midst of chaos, beauty in the midst of ugliness and meanness.
In Advent it is crucial that we not only seek such peace for ourselves and our loved ones, but for our neighbors and the world. Advent is a special time for peacemaking in addition to decorating, shopping, wrapping, and cooking.
As we light the second candle of advent, may God's peace be with you!!
Grace to You and Peace
As the world spins out of control
Grace to you and peace
Vanity overwhelms
Grace to you and peace
Strength betrays and power corrupts
Grace to you and peace
Patience wanes and cries go unheard
Grace to you and peace
Pride turns inward and bitter
Grace to you and peace
News wears us down
Grace to you and peace
Grace to you
And peace
